I am an economic historian at Wageningen University (assistant professor) working at the intersection of economic history, historical demography and economics.
My research agenda seeks to better understand how societies become rich and healthy by examining the interactions between the economy, public health and politics.
My current projects investigate how political inequality shapes public health investments; the influence of sanitary infrastructure on health outcomes; the economic impact of cholera epidemics; and how economic development affects the spread of disease.
